What happened to Amelia Earhart? The Stratus Project aims to solve Aviation’s greatest mystery

Amelia Earhart was an icon of her time – a celebrated aviator and the most famous woman in the world in the 1930s. Despite breaking numerous records throughout her career, it was her disappearance in 1937, while attempting to circumnavigate the world, which secured her place in history. Over the years the question of what happened to Amelia Earhart has become one of the most alluring mysteries, not only in aviation, but also in history as a whole.

There have been a number of searches for Amelia’s plane, her Lockheed Electra, but all have been unsuccessful. The Stratus Project has taken a different approach to the mystery than other search teams, focusing on celestial navigation and the techniques used by the navigator who accompanied Earhart, Fred Noonan. Through our years of research we have found a number of crucial pieces of information that have been previously overlooked, and which point to a search area that we believe to be the most logical location of the Electra.
